According to sources, Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in the ethnically divided state of Manipur on Monday night with the goal of reestablishing peace by mediating a settlement between the contending communities.
He began his four-day tour to the state when he arrived at the Bir Tikendrajit Imphal International Airport in Imphal after taking a special flight from Delhi.
In order to assess the situation and formulate a plan for returning to normalcy, Shah is anticipated to attend numerous rounds of discussions on Tuesday, according to insiders.
He will probably give a press conference on Wednesday in the afternoon to discuss the steps taken to stop the ongoing violence in the state.
According to security sources, he is anticipated to leave Imphal on Thursday morning via plane.
Shah is in the northeastern state for the first time since ethnic riots started earlier this month.
