Rinku Ghosh says 'our parents don’t want luxuries, but our time, compassion'

Rinku Ghosh says 'our parents don’t want luxuries, but our time, compassion'

Mumbai, July 20 (IANS) Actress Rinku Ghosh, who is currently seen in ‘Anokha Bandhan’, believes that parents are next to God and should be given utmost importance in one’s life.

A week ahead of National Parents Day, which is observed on July 28, Rinku said, “How can one day be enough for parents? In India, parents should still hold the most superior position in a family.”

The day is observed as a mark of appreciation for the commitment of parents towards their children.

Speaking about the same, Rinku, who has featured in Hindi, Bengali, and Bhojpuri projects, shared: “Of course, there are some idiots who leave their parents alone in old-age homes, or sometimes even worse, just leave them on the roads. Our parents don’t want any luxuries from us; they just want a little time and compassion.”

Emphasising the care and compassion that elderly parents need, she stressed that today’s generation lacks these qualities.

“They forget the basics; they think it’s cool to talk in slang and behave disrespectfully. Today’s parents also need to teach their children how to be respectful and compassionate,” she said.

Rinku’s mother has always been her best friend, and the actress shared that she never sought friendship outside, as her parents were her friends.

“At the same time, we (my sister and I) were scolded if we ever crossed the line or were disrespectful towards them or any elder,” she added.

The show ‘Anokha Bandhan’ airs on Dangal TV.

On the professional front, Rinku made her film debut in the 2000 Bengali movie ‘Jai Maa Durga’, opposite Deboshree Roy, Arun Govil, and Abhishek Chatterjee.

She made her Telugu debut in 2001 with ‘Raave Na Chaliya’, alongside Sai Kiran.

Rinku made her TV debut in 2007 with ‘Durgesh Nandinii’, in which she played the lead role. She has also been part of shows like ‘Mohe Rang De’, ‘Ek Safar Aisa Kabhi Socha Na Tha’, ‘Mrs. Pammi Pyarelal’, ‘BIG Memsaab’, and ‘Junooniyatt’.

Clint Eastwood's partner Christina Sandera dies at 61

Los Angeles, July 20 (IANS) Legendary actor-director Clint Eastwood’s partner, Christina Sandera, has passed away at the age of 61.

Christina was the companion of the 94-year-old actor for the past 10 years, reports Mirror.co.uk.

Clint paid tribute to her in a statement, saying, “Christina was a lovely, caring woman, and I will miss her very much.”

A Warner Brothers spokesperson told The Hollywood Reporter that no further information will be released.

The private couple began dating shortly after Clint divorced his second wife, Dina, following almost 20 years of marriage.

According to Mirror.co.uk, Christina and Clint kept their relationship away from the spotlight. They reportedly first met when she was working as a hostess at his Mission Ranch Hotel and Restaurant in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California.

They started dating in 2014. Although the couple remained very private, Christina supported Clint at several premieres and awards shows. She made her red carpet debut with him at the Oscars in 2015, when his movie ‘American Sniper’ was up for six gongs.

Clint is a father to eight children by six different women.

His first marriage was to manufacturing secretary-turned-fitness instructor Maggie Neville Johnson in 1953. While they were together, they had an “open relationship.”

The affair resulted in his daughter, Laurie, being born. However, the mother put her up for adoption without Clint’s knowledge. It wasn’t until much later that he discovered she had been adopted by a couple in Seattle.

An insider close to Clint told MailOnline in 2018: “This all happened around 30 years ago. Laurie had been really interested in finding out who her real parents were and hired someone to help her. When they found the paperwork, her biological mother had written down Clint Eastwood’s name.”

Nikhil Khurana on 'extensive' prep for 'Pill': 'We started shooting without any rehearsals'

Mumbai, July 20 (IANS) Actor Nikhil Khurana, who essays the role of Ekam Gill in the recently released web series ‘Pill’, has opened up about the ‘extensive’ preparation for his character, revealing that the shoot began without any rehearsals or workshops, which was a different experience.

Talking about his preparation for ‘Pill’, which is headlined by Riteish Deshmukh, Nikhil said: “The preparation for this role has been extensive. After several rounds of auditions — about eight to nine — I was selected by our director, Rajkumar Gupta. We started shooting without any rehearsals or workshops, which was a different experience.”

The actor added: “As an actor, you have to be ready to adapt to any character. I felt my way into the role, closely following the director’s instructions.”

The ‘Made in Heaven 2’ actor further shared that the unique aspect of his character is his youth and ambition.

“Despite being the son of a wealthy man, he has his own dreams and aspirations. People often judge him, assuming he only became CEO because of his father’s influence. He wants to prove to both his father and himself that he deserves his position. The character is a complex mix of focus, anger, and insecurities,” he said.

Nikhil praised his co-star Pavan Malhotra, saying, “He truly felt like a father figure — humble, down-to-earth, and very supportive. He creates a secure environment on set and inspires you to perform well. I would love to work with him again.”

The ‘Murder Mubarak’ actor said that shooting for ‘Pill’ was an enriching experience.

“This character was new to me, as I had previously done more light-hearted, comedic roles. This role allowed me to explore a different side of my acting capabilities and was quite liberating. Working with a great director like Raj Kumar Gupta has been a tremendous learning opportunity. Observing him was invaluable, and I will always be proud of this web series — a significant gold medal achievement in my acting career,” he concluded.

The series also features Anshul Chauhan, Akshat Chauhan, and Neha Saraf.

It chronicles the journey of a pill from production to consumption, featuring a diverse ensemble of characters including powerful pharma industrialists, corrupt doctors, medical representatives, compromised drug regulators, politicians, journalists, and whistleblowers.
