Out of 1.2 billion people, a staggering 300 million people don’t have an access to the electricity and they still depend on the age old fossil fuels like wood and coal.
So the challenge here will be to take this huge population to electricity with the help of clean fuel like solar, thermal power. So this is where the role of Sita and Madhur Kavach, the two engineers from Rajasthan starts. They have brought electricity to 600 villages in India and in 85 other countries.
They brought solar cookers to these villages and it certainly had a huge impact on the lives of these people. These are the alumni of Rajasthan’s Barefoot college, which provide a course in solar energy.
