STF Bihar catches 2013 Gandhi Maidan blast case suspect

Bihar STF

After being on the run for ten years, one of the suspects in the 2013 Gandhi Maidan blast case was apprehended by the Special Task Force (STF) of the Bihar Police in Darbhanga, according to officials.

They said that in 2013, the accused, Mehre Alam, fled from the National Investigation Agency’s (NIA) custody.

They stated that he was taken into custody on Saturday by the STF in Darbhanga’s Ashok Paper Mill neighbourhood.

On October 29, 2013, several explosions shook the Gandhi Maidan when Narendra Modi, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s then-candidate for prime minister, held his “Hunkar Rally.”

Over 70 people were hurt, and five people died.

While there were six explosions outside the rally’s location, two bombs exploded within 150 metres from the podium where Modi spoke.
