Sunil Jakhar quits Congress & joins BJP, ending a 50-year pact

Ex-Punjab Congress Chief Sunil Jakhar joins BJP in Delhi with party president JP Nadda in attendance.

“I extend a warm welcome to Sunil Jakhar into the BJP. In the course of his political career, he established himself as a well-known figure. In Delhi, BJP president JP Nadda said, “I am confident that he will play a significant role in strengthening the party in Punjab.”

“Three generations of my family served the Congress party over the last 50 years. Today, I have broken a 50-year-old tie with the Congress in Punjab over issues of nationalism, unity, and brotherhood.” My decision to leave Congress came after I was served with formal notice for speaking my mind in Congress.

According to Sunil Jakhar, Prime Minister Modi’s attendance at the 400th anniversary celebrations of Prakash Parv showed that he had his finger on the pulse of Punjab.
