Western Command’s new chief of staff is Lieutenant General Devendra Sharma

The Indian Army’s Western Command’s new chief of staff, Lieutenant General Devendra Sharma, assumed his post on Tuesday.

According to a press release, Sharma honoured the heroes of the Western Command by laying a wreath at the ‘Veer Smriti’ memorial.

Both the National Defence Academy and the Indian Military Academy may include the Lieutenant General among its alumni.

Over the course of his distinguished 30-year career, Sharma commanded multiple units in the Western sector, including an armoured regiment, brigade, division, and corps.

He has been honoured with the Sena Medal for Gallantry, the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal for exemplary service, and the United Nations Force Commander’s Commendation in recognition of his outstanding efforts.
