India may have started the World Test Championship (WTC) final’s first day on a high note, but Australia made sure they concluded Day 1 in the lead.
One of just two events that possibly didn’t go well for the Australians was losing the toss. Another was having 76 runs on the board and losing 3 wickets.
After that, it was all about Australia. With a counter attacking 146 not out, Travis Head subdued Team India and got his team back on track. In the WTC final, he became the third cricketer to hit a century.
Steve Smith shown his willingness to cooperate by also scoring an unblemished 95. Australia finished the first day at 327/3 thanks to a stand of 251 between the two.
