Yasin Malik, a J-K separatist, appears before a NIA court

Yasin Malik, a Kashmiri separatist leader, was brought before the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in Delhi.

In a terror funding case, a Delhi court is expected to rule on the quantum of sentence for Yasin Malik, who had previously pleaded guilty to all charges, including those under the strict Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA).

On May 19, special judge Praveen Singh found Malik guilty and ordered the NIA to analyze his financial status in order to establish the likely amount of fine.

Malik faces the death penalty as a maximum penalty, with a minimum term of life imprisonment for the crimes he committed.
