Rishabh Pant scored a brilliant hundred to put India in a strong position, at 338 for 7, at stumps on Day 1 in the rescheduled fifth Test against England at Edgbaston on Friday.

Pant hit first boundary to Potts when he was on 5 from 12 balls.

Then Pant came almost half the pitch to hit Anderson a boundary which just unsettled the bowler.

Pant then glided the ball on leg side to hit Leach a boundary and thus scored his half century. Pant scored 53 off 51 deliveries.

Rishabh again rattled Anderson by coming down half pitch to hit a six. Pant was on strike with 81 runs off 75 balls.

Pant hooked the short delivery from Broad to run for 2 runs to score his 3rd Test Century against England.

Pant’s trade-mark one handed Six off spinner Jack Leach was a shot of the day that mesmerised even the commentators.

Pant mistimed the out side the off stump delivery off Joe Root and was caught in the slip by as he mistimed the shot completely.

Pant scored a brilliant 146 off just 110 balls against England in the fifth and final Test match.

The Pant-Jadeja 222-run partnership for the sixth wicket is India's highest-ever against England, surpassing the 204-run Pant-KL Rahul stand at the Oval in London.
