Bihar Education Department warns recruited teachers against competitive exam protest

Patna, Feb 6 (IANS) The Bihar Education Department has warned contractual teachers in the state not to stage any protest against the competitive examinations it is conducting.

Education Department Additional Chief Secretary KK Pathak warned contractual teachers to avoid protesting against proficiency tests or they could face legal action and also lose their jobs.

Education Department Director Kanhaiya Prasad Srivastava in this regard wrote letters to all District Magistrates (DMs) in the state to take legal action against contractual teachers under relevant sections of the IPC if they are involved in any kind of protest.

The contractual teachers earlier announced that they would gherao the Bihar Assembly on February 13 and register a protest against the Education Department’s notification on the competency exam.

The Department of Education has said that all state-contracted teachers will have to pass the proficiency exam in a maximum of three attempts or lose their jobs.

The DMs were also asked to identify the contractual teachers if they would participate in the protest. “Since February 13 is a working day, if any hired teacher participated in the protest, it would be attributed to the obstruction of the educational process in the schools. Therefore, apart from legal actions, they would also face the consultation of the department”, explained the Department of Education. said
