After being granted bail by the Islamabad High Court on May 13, Imran Khan, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), addressed the country.

Khan spoke up for the first time since his ‘illegal imprisonment’ earlier this week about the horrors committed by Pakistan in East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) in 1971.

Imran condemned “Operation Searchlight,” which was conducted by the Pakistan Army in 1971 to quell the province of East Pakistan’s rebellion against West Pakistan’s dominance.

In a scathing speech, Imran Khan blamed the Pakistani government for hiding the evidence of the ‘genocide’ and preventing the public from seeing it for themselves. Imran Khan has stated his intention to bring up East Pakistan once again.

Former cricketer-turned-politician recalled the animosity directed at East Pakistan during his time playing at the Under-19 level and said it had not changed
