Bhupesh Baghel, the chief minister of Chhattisgarh, asked Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia in a letter on Sunday to include the state’s Bilaspur city in the UDAN-5.0 programme so that it will have frequent flight services to link with other locations.
The CM claimed that frequent air service from Bilaspur is essential because it is the second-most significant city in Chhattisgarh and the location of the high court.
“According to information we have, Bilaspur is not a part of the UDAN-5.0 programme, according to the Union Aviation Ministry. “The decision of the Union government has disappointed the people of the Bilaspur region,” Baghel wrote in the letter.
To further improve connectivity to rural and regional areas of the nation and attain last-mile connectivity, the civil aviation ministry has launched Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik, the fifth stage of the regional connectivity project.
After the regional convention of Congress party workers concluded in Bilaspur, the chief minister confirmed that Bilaspur was not a part of the UDAN programme in a press conference.
