In India, WhatsApp bans more than 74L accounts in April

In April 2023, Meta-owned WhatsApp banned a record-breaking 74 lakh accounts in India.

The information was provided in their monthly report, which was disclosed in compliance with the IT Rules 2021.

The report covers the time period from April 1 to April 30, 2023, and it includes information on the actions WhatsApp took in response to complaints from Indian users, accounts that were taken down for breaking the law or the rules of service, and directives from the grievance appellate committee.

According to the most recent Monthly Report, WhatsApp banned over 7.4 million accounts in April, over 2.4 million of which were proactively removed before any user complaints, according to a representative for WhatsApp.
